Position Detail:
We are looking for an Engineering Co-op for Summer 2024 in our Oshawa, ON location. This position will be temporary for 4 months from 05/01-08/30/2024.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Co-op will support the Engineering Office with tasks including dam safety documentation, drawing management, scanning/archiving/indexing of technical reports, and engineering project support.
FirstLight Power is looking for innovative, collaborative, and team-oriented summer temps to join our talented and dynamic team of individuals working to decarbonize the grid and accelerate the clean energy transformation.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Dam Safety and Reliability:
- Update the dam safety action plan and public safety management plan for the Northeast and Northwest Plant groups based on previous studies and ongoing inspection results.[JA1]
- Collect information from field data (piezometers, structural gauges, uplift sensors, bearing temperatures, etc.) and create trend graphs and monitoring plans
- Perform final edits and formatting to Operations Maintenance and Surveillance manuals
- Drawing and document management
- Scan, archive and index technical reports and drawings with our CAD drafter on location in Iroquois Falls, ON and Fort Frances, ON
- Assist with edits to AutoCAD drawings, verifying existing drawings in the registry
- Project Support
- Assist Project and/or Engineering Manager with projects including vendor interface, technical coordination, drafting, closeout reports and other duties
- Maintenance Support
- Assist the Operations group with the implementation of Asset Management and CMMS tools.
- Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Complies with all FirstLight policies and procedures
- Must be a registered Engineering student at an accredited university
- Interest in working in renewable energy and/or hydropower dams
- Outstanding organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Working knowledge of AutoCad
- Strong sense of integrity and ability to work independently
- Must be able to work in the Oshawa, ON office regularly on a hybrid basis.
- Ability to travel to Iroquois Falls and Fort Frances, ON
