Position
We are looking for an IT System Engineer to join our Information Technology team at our corporate office in Burlington, MA.

Reporting to the Director of Information Technology, the IT System Engineer will provide day to day technical oversight of the infrastructure and applications within the enterprise. This position will be involved in ticketing, change management, and provide guidance and support on IT related items.This position will troubleshoot and assist in the resolution of shared infrastructure and business systems. Duties may include technology support, IT metrics, documentation, vendor management, troubleshooting, and maintenance and support of all platform technologies.

Primary Duties

• Provides day to day technical administration for ticketing and support related tasks within the FirstLight IT technical team.
• Provides IT ticketing metrics to the team when applicable.
• Participate in the technical on-call schedule within the IT team.
• Management and configuration, Servers OS, Virtualization, backups, and End-user computing environments.
• Troubleshoot LAN /WAN issues including third-party providers.
• Develop functional and technical documentation, procedures, and operating instructions.
• Ensure all changes to systems are captured by systems change management process. 
• Demonstrated skills in the areas of planning, organizing, and project management for System projects.
• Provide customer service by way of technical support to end-users in the US.
• Inventory and management of all technology assets.
• Follow up on existing calls on behalf of clients.
• Understanding of telephony within a corporate environment.
• Document standard process and installs of infrastructure.
• Maintain client contact information.
• Provide access to systems as per IT policies.
• Develop and provide training on applications and systems as required.
• Work with client departments to understand business needs.
• Analyze business/ technical requirements to formulate and develop or purchase and implement new and/or modified systems.

Physical Requirements

• May be required to travel to remote sites on occasion to support business systems.
• Ability to be physically mobile (stand, walk, reach, climb, bend) and also the ability to sit for prolonged periods throughout the day/work hours.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to operate keyboard, copier, telephone, and the ability to write and/or type.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Qualifications / Skills

• Bachelor’s degree from an ABET or equivalent accredited institution in Computer Science, Business Systems, or MCSE with 5 years’ experience.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience of following systems:
  • Active Directory (W2K12 R2, W2K16)
  • VMWARE 5.5/6.x
  • Design implementation and maintaining IT infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Scripting languages(PowerShell)
  • Microsoft Exchange O365 and Azure
• Knowledge and support of Active Directory.
• Change, Incident and Configuration Management, a plus.
• ITIL foundations certification, a plus.
• Knowledge of energy trading or risk management a plus.
• Familiar with SCADA systems a plus.
• Must possess strong analytical and decision-making skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
• Required to participate in on-call rotations
