Position Detail:
We currently have an opening for an experienced Journeyperson Electrician for this role based in Dokis First Nation, ON.
Reporting to the Senior Operating Manager, the Journeyperson Electrician will be responsible for all aspects of electrical, control, hydraulic and minor mechanical work related to power generation to keep all HydroMega/FirstLight sites running safely and effectively.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
- Provide exceptional service by way of technical support in electrical, control, hydraulic and mechanical work
- Maintain all associated control, auxiliary, distribution, transformation and transmission systems
- Respond to power system and other emergencies in accordance with documented safety procedures
- Lead assigned projects and provide subject matter expertise as required
- Coordinate with external vendors from a project management and technical aspect
- Collaborate with Operations team to improve design and build standards; ensure standards are adhered to
- Respond to requests and work orders while paying careful attention to requirements and timelines
- Monitor and maintain systems performance and troubleshoot outages
- Provide feedback regarding areas of improvement and for efficiency
- Escalate incidents as necessary while providing communication to management
- Support the configuration, installation and testing of current and/or new systems
- Use industry standard monitoring and analysis tools as required
- Assist in the creation, support, and maintenance of operational and safety documentation
- Adhere to all safety procedures and utility practices
- Work with 3rd party support provider(s)
- Complies with all Corporate policies and IT procedures
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Qualifications / Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Ontario 309A - Construction and Maintenance Electrician certification or equivalent certification is required
- 5+ years’ industrial experience as a Journeyperson in an electrical trade
- In addition to electrical systems, must be willing to work on mechanical systems and other equipment once provided with the required safety training
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be a strong self-starter who is able to work with minimal/no assistance
- Valid class G driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract report
- Hydro generation experience desired
- Computerized control systems experience is a plus
- Hydraulics knowledge/experience is preferred
- Knowledge, understanding & experience with confined space entry
- Strong understanding of safety principles
- Must respond to emergencies within 30-90 minutes after being dispatched to site; Overtime work will be required, must be available to respond to call-in's outside of normal working hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must keep up to date with all mandatory training certifications
- Exceptional verbal/written communication skills
- Intermediate MS Suite experience
- Strong independent worker who also excels in a team environment
- Self-motivated with a willingness to learn, progress/improve processes and functions
- Understanding of urgency and caution when operating in a power systems environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Extremely high attention to detail, well organized and strong documentation skills
Physical Requirements
- Must work outdoors in various weather conditions and temperatures
- Must travel and work at other company sites including overnight trips as required
- Must stand for extended periods of time, be able to lift safely within your physical capability, climb stairs frequently, including over considerable distances on a regular basis
