Position Detail:

We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Planner to join our team in Iroquois Falls, ON.

Reporting to the East Operations Manager, the Maintenance Planner is responsible for effective execution of maintenance planning, inventory control processes and the efficient and effective use of planning and scheduling resources to conduct maintenance activities which result in minimum downtime and maximum productivity. Will manage work priority, develop job plans, define parts and material, oversee all aspects of inventory management, and engage the proper resources to develop a safe, effective, and efficient work control plan. Provides equipment-related expertise and technical guidance on improving predictive and preventative maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Maintain, update, and distribute weekly/monthly work schedules
  • Handle overall planning function including the backlog accuracy
  • Computer data entry of all Preventative Maintenance Plans (PM’s) and Work Orders
  • Ensure all PM’s are released and Work Orders are generated prior to the required dates as well as updating all information as needed, ensuring accuracy 
  • Assist in estimating time and labor hours needed to perform Work Orders including materials and contractor services
  • Verify that the Job Plan information is complete and accurate
  • Ensure that all information needed to support the planning process is complete, accurate and readily available
  • Confirm accuracy and completeness of feedback information
  • Ensure accurate data is provided and utilized (equipment lists, parts list, specs, etc.)
  • Update parts lists, job steps, etc. as the job is completed
  • Maintain accurate inventory balances and records
  • Ensure that the needed Storeroom parts are available
  • Initiate pick lists of inventory parts and materials in support of planned work
  • Stage job parts as needed
  • Arrange for job site (or drop-off location) delivery as needed
  • Ensure inventory reorders, re-order points, and on-hand quantity to support plant maintenance
  • Generate Purchase Requisitions as needed
  • Expedite material and parts delivery as required to support work plan schedule
  • Coordinate the delivery of equipment and parts ordered from vendors
  • Develop bid specification and coordinate pre-bid meetings as required
  • Complies with all Corporate policies and procedures
  • Carries out other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications / Skills

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Knowledge of standard Maintenance, Planning, Scheduling and Inventory processes
  • 2+ years of hydro power plant experience, preferred
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management System applications, Work Management Systems and Inventory Software or similar application
  • Experience with implementing a CMMS is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to visualize and communicate the execution of work and strong analytical skills
  • Takes initiative to progress/improve processes and functions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient math and computer skills including MS Office, especially Excel
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Self-starter with a high level of initiative and independence; also excels in a team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Must possess a valid G driver’s license with clean driving record

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally required to stoop or lift light material or equipment. Climbing stairs is a common task.
  • Occasional exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery and noise which cause noticeable discomfort.
